This video was created by Justin Holcomb, an 18 year old high school graduate who is a patriot at heart. His very proud mother, Cindy, is the Secretary of the Republican Women of Trussville, AL. Justin created it to encourage attendance at their Tax Day Tea Party. Like Maddie (article below), these young people understand the great promise of America and the sacrifice that freedom demands. This is one very powerful video and I'm proud to show it here with the permission of the Trussville Club.
Maddie Cavaliere, one of our young volunteers, came to a meeting and asked us to support her in sending Girl Scout cookies to our troops in Iraq. Our club and its members enthusiastically supported Maddie's project. The cookies went to Camp Bucca in Iraq. In appreciation, Maddie's family received a flag flown over this camp and a certificate that reads, in part, "[...]this flag was flown in the face of the enemy, illuminated in the darkest night by the light of justice. It proudly bore steadfast witness to the dawning of a new era of freedom for those who have never known it, bravely led by those who would give their life for it." Once a flag pole is erected, it will proudly fly in front of Maddie's home to witness the blessings of freedom and honor those who defend it every day.
We have a watershed year ahead of us this year in NJ. With one of only two gubernatorial races in the United States, many will be keeping a close eye on what happens here. There is no doubt that our state is in a fiscal mess, most of it caused by overspending, massive debt accumulation, and a Democrat administration and legislature that are unwilling to step up to the plate and make the tough decisions needed to get our state back on the right track.
What better time to elect a Republican governor, someone with unwaivering core belief in smaller government, personal responsibility, and the power of free markets? If we don't, we face the flight of more businesses and more of our high wage earners. Can we even bear more taxes? It won't matter, because that's what we'll get. And, NJ will continue to rank #1, but by all the wrong measures.
This year, it's going to take the efforts of every one of us to get out the vote in Morris County. With a huge plurality here, Republicans CAN take the governorship and turn this state around. Your club is committed, enthusiastic, and energized.
